During these visits, Dr. Cline will closely examine your teeth and gums for any indications of trouble. If we notice anything amiss, we can resolve it as soon as possible—before it causes serious harm. We’ll also remove plaque that has hardened on your teeth, which prevents future problems from developing.

Fluoride Treatments

Once we’ve cleaned your teeth, we can then apply a coating of fluoride to your teeth. What does this treatment do? It strengthens your tooth enamel to resist decay. That’s why fluoride is a main ingredient in most dental products and is often added to public drinking water. A fluoride treatment at your routine visit can help protect your smile up until your next dental appointment six months later.

Nightguards for Bruxism

If you grind or clench your teeth when you’re stressed or while you sleep (a condition called bruxism), your teeth can wear down more quickly than usual. These weakened teeth can experience cracks, breaks, or other damage. On your own, this habit can be difficult to break, which is why we can provide a custom oral appliance called a nightguard. Basically, it separates your upper and lower teeth with smooth comfortable plastic so that the enamel can stay intact longer.

Dental products are not created equal. Some are more beneficial for your smile than others, and it can be tricky to tell which one to choose when you’re staring at hundreds of options in the store. Before you leave our dental office, ask us about hygiene products you can use at home. Based on your teeth’s needs, we can give you advice and recommend brands that we trust to ensure that your daily hygiene routine is as effective as possible.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Although not the most common type of cancer, oral cancer tends to have a high mortality rate because it is often caught during late stages. At that point, unfortunately, treatment may not be successful. That’s why we include an oral cancer screening in every checkup that we perform. If we notice any lumps, discolored or thickened tissue, or other suspicious areas, we’ll direct you to a physician for further testing. This exam takes just minutes, but it could save your life!
