Wisdom Tooth Extractions Idaho Falls
Painful Wisdom Teeth?
We’ll Gently Remove Them
If you are in your late teens or early 20s, or have a child in that age range, now could be the time for wisdom teeth to arrive. In the past, these third molars were necessary to replace teeth lost from decay or infection. However, thanks to oral hygiene, many patients today do not require these extra teeth. In fact, most of the time, the patient’s dental arches are not large enough to fit them all and can become overcrowded. In these cases, Dr. Cline can remove the wisdom teeth in order to preserve the rest. Are you in need of wisdom tooth extractions in Idaho Falls? Contact us to schedule an appointment and find out!

How Are Wisdom Teeth Extracted?
The method used to remove wisdom teeth will greatly depend on whether the teeth have erupted and whether they are impacted. In some cases, we may be able to use dental pliers to pull the tooth, but in others, we may need to break the tooth into smaller pieces. For wisdom teeth that are still located underneath the gums surface, Dr. Cline will need to make an incision first. Regardless of the method, rest assured that we will make sure you’re completely comfortable throughout the entire process.
What Is the Aftercare for Wisdom Tooth Extractions?
Following wisdom tooth extraction, it is important to allow your mouth to heal properly. Although we will give you more specific instructions in person, here are some of the things you need to do in order to recover without complications:
- Put clean gauze on the site for several hours and let a blood clot form.
- Get plenty of rest and use over-the-counter pain relievers and a cold compress to reduce any discomfort.
- In the first 24 hours, do not brush your teeth, but gently rinse your mouth with warm saltwater.
- Eat soft foods for at least 48 hours and slowly transition back to your normal diet over a week or so.
- Avoid using a straw for at least 48 hours. Dislodging the clot can lead to a painful infection called dry socket.
